Wherever you go and whatever you do there are always a few common sense tips for keeping safe. Hand drumming is no exception!
Firstly, you will be using your hands to hit a drum skin. This is safe but your hands will feel like they have had a good workout after an hour. However, if your wrist starts to feel painful then you should stop. This could mean that you have strained or are at risk of straining your wrist.
Secondly, if you can, take all rings off your fingers. If you can't then it's a good idea to wrap a plaster or some tape over your ring. To be honest, this is as much about protecting the drums as it is about your fingers. But if you hit the rim of the drum with a ring then it can feel sore. But you may also damage the softer skin of the drum itself.
Playing drums is noisy but we will provide you with ear defenders so that you can reduce the amount of volume you are hearing.
